Blown Turbo???
So I took my car into a mechanic and had them take a look at my car since I couldn't figure out the white smoke out the tailpipe. It wasn't showing the symptoms of a blown head gasket so I had a diagnostic done on the car because it was free. The mechanic just called me back and said it was either of 2 things, either blown rings or a blown turbo, and the car is running way too good to be blown rings. He said he was 95% sure it was the turbo. Apparently there is oil in the tailpipe when you stick your finger in there. He is going to pull the intercooler tube to check for oil in there. I imagine this is going to be a very costly repair, and I want to make sure that it is indeed the problem. Any ideas on cost and if it is the turbo? IfI can get a hold of a turbo they will install it for me and I imagine that will cut down on the cost a little bit.2001 A4 Quattro 1.8T.
if your have a blown turbo, the smoke should be a greyish blue smoke because of the oil. white smoke is because of water (leaking head gasket).
are u just looking for the cheapest turbo (gpopshop.com) or an upgrade?
