Same here I'm only at 107,000 and I have never had any major issues besides a couple of vacuum hoses and my window bracket breaking.

Lol my story is vicarious - I have a 2.8 Most 1.8T guys are constantly dealing with vacuum leaks, dead/failing coil packs, dying ICMs (in the earlier cars), and continuous turbo shaft seal leakage. Then you can add on coolant leaks from the coolant flange on the back of the head and the guaranteed death of the k03 turbo. Also it seems that 1.8T guys all end up wearing out their clutches and have to replace them (I can't recall any 2.8 guys doing this in the 6+ years I've been involved in this scene, although I know someone has had to of course). The 2.7T deals with almost all of that but twice as much since there are two of almost everything. They don't have the coolant flange problem but they have an afterrun coolant pump under the intake manifold, which is plastic and therefore bakes itself brittle and cracks open, spilling coolant and necessitating removal of the intake manifold. Add to all this, the typical B5 failures such as control arms, wheel bearings, secondary air injection systems, headlight switches, info display pixellation, etc and yeah, I'll happily stick with my 2.8. I love boost but I'll take mine in Japanese car form. They know how to build a boosted engine that doesn't fail every 45 minutes and rip your soul out through your wallet.

Happy motoring.

Well I have the K03S turbo..dunno if there is anything better on that or not... I had to change the oil line from the steering pump to steering valves... ( they have that little pressure thing inside the oil line...and it keeps pushing it with pressure and results are breaking the line). My mechanic said that all of these cars have a stupid steering system. I also heard of the control arms and wheel bearings. About the clutch...it works fine the only thing I really hate is that it engages really high on the pedals.. like you press it 3 cm and it engages...and the whole other way is useless....you dont even have to press it down to metal ...just 3 cm

that's my whole story....everything else works....oh and a broken MAF..

keep in mind that I have this car for 11 months now...

Oh yeah, I forgot about dying MAFs. And no, k03s doesn't matter, it's the same general design as a k03. Plan on it dying and needing replacement in the future. It's a mechanical part, and they wear out, so I know a case can be made that it can happen to any turbo, but tell that to the turbos on my 300ZX, which when I sold the car at 226,xxx miles, we're still happily blasting out 17.5psi with no wobble, no endplay, and no shaft seal leakage...

My opinion is, Audi builds great cars, but shitty turbo engines. The 18T and 2.7T can be a lot of fun but the headaches aren't worth it to me, by a LONG shot. Do I like driving a built 1.8T or a stage 3 S4? Hell yes, they're a ton of fun. Would I want to live with one? Not on your f*cking life.

and what somebody should buy after his KO3s fails? because I dont think is worth it to buy the same one...since a bigger one would count as an upgrade and money well put (nothing is well put on a car...but anyway..lets lie to our selfs)

Bosch MAF that my car used to have had never been replaced... so I guess making so many miles is satisfying

The new owner guide up top and the turbo guide in the TT section will answer that and provide a ton of educational reading.

Lol I meant it as those posts will not only give you your options but will spell out power potential, supporting mods, etc.
