Boost Loss / Turbo Flutter
#11
Yup, not a huge fan of the guy. The one is still in the inlet pipe. I will buy some hose and try to connect it after work and see if that helps.
Do you think this would cause the "flutter" when I let off the throttle when it's boosting that I've been hearing though? I just put a Forge DV on it, and checked the stock one I took off which seemed to still be good anyways.

Without actually hearing it, the flutter you described sounds like compressor surge. It's possible the stock DV was bad or connected improperly. Assuming the Forge DV you put on is good, and since it didn't change the flutter, I would guess the latter. Can you trace the vac line that's attached to the small nipple on the DV? Where does it go?

It goes it the intake manifold (I know this isnt how it is stock, but it should be fine?), I just put a new hose on it yesterday because I thought it was maybe leaking and that was causing the problem.

Yep that should be fine. I gotta wonder if the PO did the n249 delete or if that might be part of your CEL woes. Which forge did you buy? I believe they come with more than one spring, which color did you use?

The Forge I put in was acutally one the PO gave me with the car that he never installed, I believe I have the green spring in it (I think that's the weakest one?) .. Maybe I didn't grease it enough? I used some white lithium grease.
Would it matter which way it is connected to the two hoses? Maybe I put it on wrong that way?

Shouldn't matter. The DV and N75 are not directional, they're either open or closed (or somewhere in between). I've seen people argue that one orientation or another provides better performance or quicker response but I've never seen any concrete evidence to support either side. IIRC the green spring is good up to 15psi so that sounds right, especially if you're only making 7lbs of boost.
I would start by plugging the N75 back in. If the car is really chipped like the PO told you, it would be using the N75 to control boost pressure. See if re-installing it properly helps things.
Any chance you could get a video of the noise you're hearing? Where are you located?

Wisconsin. I am at work currently, but the sound is exactly like this
when I let off the throttle (at standstill revving, or if I am accelerating it happens when I am boosting to 7 psi and then I shift... in low gears.. at higher gears my car is too loud to hear if its happening)

No airbox (just a VERY sad excuse for a heatshield), and its got a cone air filter on it.
I also should note that it has an atmospheric dump coming out of the valve cover (and connceted to crankcase breather) rather than branching back to the PCV valve.. So there is no PCV, the spot where it would go on that tube is just plugged.

Well, turns out my N75 wasnt even hooked up... Just the hose going from the spot on the turbo to the spot on the wastegate.. hooked that up and now my car is maxing out my gauge (25 psi)... so now I think I have aproblem in the wrong direction?. Its a GIAC J31 Chip. Maybe ill just throw a MBC on there and set it at 18 or something?
