Default Bose stereo sound primarily coming from back?

I recently purchased a 98 A4 with the bose stereo option. It seems that the majority of the sound is coming from the rear of the car. Both fade and balance options are set to 0. Is this normal? My other two cars are two seaters so maybe I am just not used to the way a sedan stereo sounds - but to me the people in the back seat are being blasted and the front is not as loud.

Thanks in advance

My A4 has the Bose Audi Symphony system and i've re-vamped it however the stock way it's set up is the front doors are on the front output. the back doors and rear deck speakers are on the rear output. however all the door speakers do not cary any bass sounds. The rear deck speakers are all bass. They don't sound too bad for factory but this could be why you think it's loud in the back. If you have any more questions just ask. Hope this helps

No problem. I love the way Audi integrated the Bose sound system head unit into the car so i had to learn how it worked instead of replacing it. I have the pinout of the amp (which is located in the trunk not behind the head unit) that goes to all 6 speakers and used that in line with a crossover to power my subs and new rear deck speakers.

The only thing i'm considering doing is finding a way to convert the 6 disc changer in the trunk to an iPod input. The whole tape deck converter is getting to me with the low quality.

The iPod integration is a project I'm looking into also. So far I am leaning in this direction - http://www.crutchfield.com/p_531IAUD...rch=dice&ssi=0

I like that but the wires for the CD changer are in the trunk. and i'm not all into tearing apart my dash. I guess the tape deck will do for now. if i really like an artist or certain songs i just burn CDs anyways. they aren't that expensive.

Yeah Charlie, I am frustrated by the same thing. The Bose is not terrible but is isn't as good as the Monsoon I had in my Passat.
I have been pulling the doors to see if there's anything can be done to fix the balance issue. One of the problems is that when you are in Bose mode the speakers do not function completely individually but collectively, so it's impossible to really get the fader balanced. Not to mention the rear fader connects the rear doors and the subs in the boot, so even if you wanted to lower the doors only, you lose your subs.

Thinking of relocating the front tweeters higher to see if this helps.
