Bose Upgrade
Has anyone upgraded there Bose system?
I was thinking on the lines of keeping the factory Bose head unit and upgrading the speakers and amps?
When I first got the car the Bose rear decklid speakers dust caps were floating and I took them out and had a speaker shop glue them back on as discussed in that other post.
Thing is this system really lacks kick and I also own a Volvo C70 coupe which I rarely drive now because I love my A4 over it.....
The only thing I miss from the C70 is the kickass 400 watt factory 12 speaker system.
Thanks
Jeff

IMO the head unit is the weakest point of the system. Lacks tuning therefore makes the system sound a little boomy at low volumes. Try putting a iPod on it through the tape or the radio and you will soon understand. Even the crappy iPod EQ is better and honestly it SUX. Currently I have 2 Polk MMC6500 speakers in my rear doors and thats it. Those alone have made the system much clearer sounding but now I am considering some Polk's in the front doors and I want to replace the rear deck speakers and put them onto an aftermarket amp to fill out the system. Then a nice headunit and it should be a great sounding system unless all you listen to is rap and you want the world to hear your bass.

No, I don't listen to any rap and I don't have to put an ipod in as i already do hear the low vol responce.
What I really hate is when you crank it and it sounds like it drops the bass out.
I figured an amp and speakers may cure this if the deck is pre-amped.
Thats good to hear that Polk speakers helped your mid range.

I agree that the BOSE system is boomy at low volumes, but if you turn the volume up during a good song, the base goes away.
Has anyone ever added a Bazooka tube to their factory system?
I had one in my Toyota truck and loved it.
