BOSE... you suck. i needed open minded ideas.
Ok... if he had subs he had his own amp... so he probably took out the Bose Amp and trashed it...Or its still hidden behind some carpet. You should open the speaker grills and see if he changed the speakers out too... if so.. all you need is to wire a new Amp.
That wire bundle tucked underneath the changer is for the old school navigation unit, they never installed them on the A4 but the S4 they did, and they all use the same wiring harness, so thats useless. Take out the trunk panels and see if you can find it.
thanks for all the help.
are you actually a tech at a dealership??
im going off to work on my car is 12 degree weather lolzz....
i'll report tomorrow if i find anything with the amp situation.
Bose systems are totally different than a non bose system, there is nothing in a bose system you can use if you decide to go with an aftermarket head unit. The bose speakers have very low impedance either 1 or 2 ohms where standard speakers are either 4 or 10 ohms, and the door speakers have amplifiers built into them. If you connect a non bose head unit to the bose speakers the low impedance will eventually blow out your amps by drawing 2 to 4 times the current the system is set up for. Bose head units send unamplified signals to the rear mounded amp which then sends the signals to the speakers.
The amp in my 96 A4 is just forward and outboard of the CD changer hanging from the bottom of the package tray. The harness runs down the drivers side of the rear wheelwell and forward under the seat.

im really considering just getting decent speakers and getting an after market head but i just like the oem...ness of the car sometimes. like i feel that like some random sony head will just look so cheesy and goofy in the car.. and im not even sure a screen will look anybetter. and i found someone selling a oem nav screen from an s4 but idk if that would work in my car???
hey!, thanks for that great info hoping mine is the same...i'll have to check that out soon.
