Breather system deleted?
So i bought my car, and i took the engine out.
I found that the Pcv valve isn't hooked up and their is no area for it with the custom intake used.
And the breather hose right off the crankcase is about 3 inches with a air filter on the end of it, covered with oil along with that whole side of my engine bay.
I really don't know much about Pcv systems, but that just seems like a bad idea.
Shouldn't there be a catch can or something?
And the n75 valve is still connected electrically but there are no hoses connected to it since i have a manual boost controller.
Can you just completely remove it? or leave it.

Pretty sure what you're looking at is the feed tube to the secondary air pump. Normally it's attached to the airbox and when an intake is installed that hose has nothing to attach to, so a small filter gets put on to keep grit from damaging the SAP. if you live in a state with no emissions testing at inspection you can get a blockoff plate and resistor and delete it, but otherwise you need to leave it intact or you'll fail at inspection time. The PCV system is different and separate.
Well, i had a few things wrong.
I think my head gasket was going, the valve cover seemed fine but was possible, the water pump was leaking, and my cylinders had scars on them causing blow by, along with my valve seals being bad.
Hmm...
Im pretty sure that my car didn't have a secondary air pump tho, since its a 97.
And has a 058 block

I thought all the 1.8T cars had the SAP but I don't know for sure - it was an assumption. What are you seeing that makes you suspect the head gasket? That sounds like the car has had a pretty rough life. You might be better off just replacing the engine and calling it a day.
