Default Broken Trunk Release

My trunk no longer opens... when I push in the button to open it up it just stays in.... if I hit the trunk next to it I can 'vibrate' it out a bit. The key is useless. Won't open.

I can flip down my backseats to get in my trunk, is there a release inside the trunk?

anyone tried changing the lock on the trunk? What does it involve? Is this a known issue, is there something small/simple I can fix?

Thanks!

Sadly there is not a release inside the trunk. What you got to do to open it is fold your back seats and remove the liner off the trunk,(there are about 13 screws that you have to unscrew) there you'll see the latch where there is a rod, just push it and it'll be open.

Actually try working with the lock and key again over and over. I spent 30 min trying to open my trunk using the key and I must have did something so it wouldn't open. I thought it was broke too but it wasn't, I must have locked it and needed to double unlock it or something like that. However it finally worked and since then I've only unlocked the car and then pressed the button to release the trunk. So don't use the key to unlock your trunk again.

I haven't ever actually used the key to open my trunk... I'm affraid to put my key in & work it too much cuz I dont want to break the switch blade key.... Just got a new one, those puppies are over $200 !

Looks like im crawling in my trunk & unscrewing 13 screws to release the trunk!

I guess once I have it released, I should replace the locking mechanism? Where can I order one of those to my VIN / Key cut?

No! you don't need to replace anything, just need to unlock it first and move the latch to a position where it will unlock by pressing the button. Just move it to the right once you see it.

there is a feature that most people dont know about here. your trunk lock is normaly in the verticle position right? when you turn the key one notch counterclockwise, it unlocks, one notch clockwise it locks. now when you turn the key 2 notches clockwise, it locks the trunk so that you cannot unlock it without the master key. the unlock switch on the drivers door, or any of the valet keys will not work on it. its to protect whats in your trunk when you hand your key to someone else. once its 'double' locked, you need to use the master key to unlock it (counter clockwise).

also when your car is locked and alarmed, if you open the trunk with the key, when you shut the trunk again, it will automaticly lock and re-arm the alarm.

I wonder if this is it.... I recently got a new key cut for my car, lost the original.

I'll have to contact the dealer to make sure I have a master key.

Thanks, thats been a great help!

What do you do if neither key you have will even go in the trunk lock but operates everything else perfectly?
