Burning oil fast!
Ok so I just bought the car and have only put a little over a thousand miles on it and I have had to put 3 quarts of oil in already! Its a 2000 a4 quattro 1.8t with many mods including a big turbo. I know I am not leaking a drop because all the gaskets in the engine are new and I have looked for leaks. I have looked on forums and I can't find much info on burning oil this bad. Does anyone know what the first steps would be to finding out why it is burning oil so fast. The turbo is newer too. I do have black soot type stuff on the inside of my muffler but that might be because I have no cat. It does not have smoke coming out of the exhaust either. The only thing I have noticed is when its warming up some smoke/steam comes directly from the turbo.
Thanks
Thanks
I was burning oil fast as well at one point (all gone in a week), the issue with mine was the the hybrid blow off/ diverter valve, it was causing a lot of pressure there for leaking through it. We blocked off the side which leads the air back into the car and it solved the issue. Do you have a hybrid?
i would definately look at valve seals, but just since the engine has all new gaskets doesnt mean it isnt leaking oil. have you looked around the engine much to see any oil deposits?
