Burnt Rubber Smell
Hi,
I have a 1998 A4 2.8 Quattro with a manual transmision. Recently I noticed that the front, passanger side, smells like burnt rubber after driving it a little. I have not noticed it in the past becuase for some strange reason I cannot smell it from the driver side. I can only smell it from the passanger side. I had my transmission fluid replaced recenty. I now that Audi does not recommend to have it changed but I did it anyway because I though it would improve the shifting. It did a little. I wonder if that is the problem.
Anyway, if anyone has experienced burnt rubber smell comig from the passanger front, and has any idea of what it could be, please let me know and I will be forever thankful.

Look at your tire and see if it shows signs of rubbing due to suspension wear, damage, or collapse. Check your serpentine belt too. And changing the transmission fluid is a good idea - "lifetime" doesn't really mean lifetime when it comes to fluid.
