cam seals and oil sludge/leak...
I was recently working under the hood (tb job) and decided to forego a cam seal replacement job although I had the 4 brand new seals and access to the shafts. Now I am a little concerned b/c I know that the seals are related to the common oil sludge problem with these cars. Just wondering around when- what mileage- this sludge problem usually occurs and how often? what is the potential damage caused? I haven't had any leaks or problems yet, but was rather going to do it as a precaution since I was already in there...just turned out to be more than I was willing to handle at the time. Thanks again, for any help.
I think that the sludge problem can occur anytime if you don't take care of your engine. You should have a problem with sludge if you use fully synthetic oil because it does not break down.
sludge doesn't suddenly occur. like austin said, it depends on how you take care of your car. seafoaming your car, using a big filter and frequent oil changes will reduce sludge problems though. sludge usually isn't a problem with the 2.8 though. o and there's a PES supercharger for sale that someone posted up from craigslists.
Yeah I saw the post for the supercharger but I am not sure about the difference between the G1 and G2 (I plan on getting the G2); more importantly, I probably can't afford it yet.
Thanks for the info tho. I thought seafoaming wasn't too good for your car?

I did a search/research on seafoaming and I think I will do it right before my next oil change this August/September. I will probably try and do it about every other oil change from onow on, which would be every ~24000 kilometers. Sounds good?
