Is there a quick and easy way to temporarily disable the factory alarm on my 2001 A4 Avant until I can get a VAG COM reading from the dealer? The fuse for the alarm also controls the interior lights, so I don't want to pull that (plus I couldn't get at the fuses in the side of the dash). Can I unplug the control module in the rear panel with no ill effects?
The alarm spontaneously goes off in wet weather, even when unlocked. I want to stop annoying the neighbors.

i believe if you unplug the unit your car will not run. mine wouldnt start with it out. and your tail light and or trunk seal are leaking. the central locking is wasted. save the time and the 100 at the dealer and just buy a new one. from the dealer ($1000+) or go the used route. i went through 3 of them, at 150 a piece. and make sure you tell your neighbors your sorry.
