Hello AudiForums!

I just purchased a 96 A4 that I got that needed a starter. I replaced the starter and the car runs great. Except if it runs for a little while it starts to get hot. The temp gauge will start to go from the middle in to the 3/4 range. I observed that the electric fan doesnt ever seem to kick on. Even if I turn the AC on. The other fan on the belt obviously runs all the time. If anyone could help me I would appreciate it! Thanks

you may have 1 of 2 problems......your thermostat, or your water pump. When your car over heats, you will need to check the top radiator hose. If it feels empty, but obviously hot, your thermostat is stuck closed and thats your culprit, and if thats not the case, then your stock (if it is) plastic impeller water pump is shot.....although for a 96, it most certainly HAD to have been changed already, but hey you never know......
