car insurance
just got my first bill for insurance and have to pay like $398
and was wondering what other people are paying personally i think thats really high for how safe this kind of car is and im sure being 18 and a male doesnt help and the $398 i pay four months in a row twice a year so thats $3184 a year.

Yeah, it doesn't help AT ALL. The safeness of the car has little, if anything, to do with your insurance rates at that age.
I'm currently at around $1200 for the year with an '01 A4 1.8T, but i'm 25 years old, with a clean driving record
*knock on wood*
But i remember when i first started looking at buying a car when i was 19, and, for a 1992 VW Golf, no one was even considering insuring me for less than $3000/yr.
So it sounds about right, to me.

$3k a year seems sort of insane even for a young male unless you have a terrible record. It's not relevant, but I have 2 speeds on my record and pay $70/month for full coverage. But I'm married and am 28. Where you live has a lot to do with it as well.
dang, thats awesome!
Agreed. I'm 33, clean license, and have 100% coverage - everything you can cover, I have covered. $500 deductible, relatively safe area. $66/month
One reason why his rates are high is the high parts cost for these cars. Insurance companies aren't dumb - they know if you file a claim on an Audi, it's gonna cost, so they're going to get their pound of flesh in advance. Case in point - my buddy hit a 150lb deer at 60mph in his 2000 Passat 30v. Had to replace hood, fender, bumper cover, washer reservoir, headlight, grille, and grille emblem. Total bill was $4219. On a side note, the damage he sustained at that speed would probably be equal to the damage to a Cavalier if it hit the deer at 15-20mph. I couldn't believe how well the car held up. These things are tanks.

i pay $53 / month ($635 / year) for my insurance
i am 21 years old
ive been in 1 accident and have gotten 1 speeding ticket
This $53 is only for liability though : \
thing is, i just hit a deer and did like $200 damage to my car... so having full coverage wouldnt have even helped me causei figure, if i would get full coverage it would probably be $1000 deductible (to keep insurance affordable...)
idk though, i paid $6k for the car, and i would be paying 1200 / year for full coverage plus 1k deductible, so if i use my car for 3.5 or 4 years with no major major accidents i think i made the right choice. if not, i probably would have been better off going the full coverage route.
