I'll tell a story about my 2000 ATW 1.8 Q stick (220,000 miles now). I was getting codes for cam position sensor, replaced it twice, and then read somewhere that if the ECU doesn't get a good signal, it will guess the cam position. If mine doesn't start after about 3 seconds, I just back the key off, try again, and it starts the second time 100% of the time. All I know is that it works for me. odd, but it is an old audi....
