Default CEL Code P0171 - Found the problem

I found the cause of the code to be the intake air hose (the one going into the MAF/Air Box) pinched at the bottom.

Looking at it from the top it looked OK, but the bottom of the hose was not inserted properly and let air in - bypassing the MAF. This probably happened when I last changed the air filter.

Found this out when I took out he MAF for cleaning and then when re-installing noticed that the hose was not going in OK. Had to move the hose clamp away from the "hose lip" (not just loosen it) and then applied a bit of lube to the hose lip and it went in OK finally.

Had been living with this for a while...much better now!

I too have this problem, the car just set a P0171 code. I would like to see a pic of this hose you are talking about.

I just had the code too and it was the little air hose with the heat protection coming off of the manifold. It had a little tear in it.

Thanks, it seems that the main cause of this code is unmetered air. I am going to try and smoke test it and see where that leads me.Thanks again.

I had this code back in July and it was a bad MAF. This code is notorious for being tough to get rid of.
