Central locking unit? Or Key fob?
#11
okay audi what the holy hell
I took the unit out and tried to start the car. Nothing. Had to put it back in to start it.
Fine and all that, I'll just leave it in until the new one arrives right?
Well now it's started working again... how do I know? When I drove to the store and parked in a parking garage, the alarm chirped at me when I locked it. And since the fob isn't synced, I can't un-chirp the alarm. So of course when I unlock the door and open it, the thing goes crazy. I had to put my groceries down and quickly get into the trunk (all while people are staring at me and my car with the alarm going nuts) to unhook the module.
I got the alarm off by unplugging it, then re-plugged it in to get the car started, then drove home to test out what's going on, and everything seems to be working except I can't get the fob synced so now whenever I lock my door, it chirps at me and whenever I go to unlock and enter it, it sets of the alarm.
Super.

Water + printed circuit boards = evil
This might be progress. Maybe what you need to do is pull the pump out again and dry it out good (probably not in the clothes dryer...but you decide). Then a tooth brush with some iso-prop alchohol on the back of the board where all the solder joints are just to make sure some corrison isn't bridging contacts.

Yeah I figured it must have dried out enough to start working again. Ill just have to dry it out extra good. Too bad I just bought the new one.
Now I have to go back through the 14,000 tutorials to sync my fob to find the right one. Otherwise, every time I open my car door the alarm goes off.

Yikes so the Ross-Tech stuff does way more and you need a real VCDS dealy, not just my $20 OBD dealy.
Welp I'll get it figured out. I guess I just need to sync that fob up after I get the module cleaned

Yeah, generic OBD scanners can't do what VCDS does.
You can get a generic ebay cable and register it for $100, or try to find an authentic cable used for $100-150. Brand new cable is $250.
