Changed the oil and now car violenty shakes on idle

Lol, ouch, that hurts. I completely agree with a misfire, though. I've hear a bad injector will also cause this since you have no detonation in a cyclinder. However, if you are getting misfires in all of them, I would definitely narrow it down to a control device, such as the coil.

but for all 4 coils to go bad together? unheard of. he most likely bumped a vac line loose during his oil change. that would cause the engine to run rich, and misfire

No, no ouch here. Learn something everyday, take it in stride. I would agree with a vac leak, and the test is pretty easy. After that I would check your 02 sensor. I dunno, sounds a lot like an ICM, so its probably a control device if its not a vac leak.

2000s and 2001s just have individual coils controlled by the ecu. no distributor or anything
