Chasing Oxygen Sensors issues
The last code I have been dealing with was the
16540 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B2 S2: Malfunction in Circuit
P0156 - 92-00 - Unknown Error Elaboration
B2 S2 = Rear Driver side.
Figured the sensor is shot.
Since I had to take the downpipes down for leak welding, I replaced the 02 sensor.
I tried to trace the wire to the connector in the engine bay.
Bought generic 4 wire. Wire colors were black (signal), grey (ground), purple (heater), white (heater).
Spliced in
black to black for signal
grey to grey for ground
white to purple (heater)
white to white (heater).
Since then, I have the
16525 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S2; Heating Circuit: Malfunction
P0141 - 92-00 - Unknown Error Elaboration
B1 S2 is the passenger side rear O2 sensor.
Coincidence? Did I twist the wires on the sensor too much?
Or did I mix up the sensors, and the new one is NOT spliced right?
How can I:
a) make sure the right sensor is in the right place? Can I swap the connectors in the engine bay to see if the error moves over?
b) check what could be wrong with the B1 S2 sensor

Drove the car 250 miles yesterday, pulled codes:
O2 sensor issues
I had the following code on B2 S2 (driver side rear) for a while:
16540 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B2 S2: Malfunction in Circuit
P0156 - 92-00 - Unknown Error Elaboration
Bought generic 4 wire O2 and spliced in (on driver side, downstream)
black to black (signal)
grey to grey (ground)
purple (O2) to white (car) for heat
white to white for heat
Now I have 2 codes:
16525 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B1 S2; Heating Circuit: Malfunction
P0141 - 92-00 - Unknown Error Elaboration
16540 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor B2 S2: Malfunction in Circuit
P0156 - 92-00 - Unknown Error Elaboration
a) I had the trans out a while ago. Could it be that I mixed up the O2 sensors? And cut the GOOD sensor (driver side wired to B1S2). And this new sensor is NOT wired properly (or not working with the car)
b) B2S2 is still the bad sensor, but installed on passenger side.
c) any ideas how a generic 4 wire sensor with black, grey, purple and white wires should be connected to the black, grey, white, white car wires?
