Red face check out this craigslist posting... (garrett gt28R)

hey there, i was looking through clist and came across this add

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/pts/1103882803.html

question... what is the difference between the gt28rs and the gt28r or do you think it is the gt28rs and he just forgot to put that? idk if its the same turbo that is in this kit

http://shop.dthaus.com/product.sc?ca...8&productId=87

or one that is very similar and i can utilize my stock intake like the elim turbos do i will probably jump on this and offer him $300 and go from there... (obv after testing shaft play and checking history of it and why its not on his car (hopefully accident after like 5k miles of having it on ! ))

any other info would be helpful i think this would be a good, cost effective route to double my whp!!!

a gt28r is a touch smaller than a gt28rs and has a different compressor housing. that is definitely not a gt28rs in the craigslist link, and also definitely not the same turbo that you linked to on dthaus.com. the "elim" turbos in the dthaus link have a KKK turbine housing allowing you to use your stock exhaust manifold (not intake, as you stated).

Basically the Elim(GTRS/GT2871r) use a GT28r housing which has a inlet flange with 2 bolt hole. The real GT28rs and GT2871r use a compressor housing that is 3".

^ oh okay, i didnt realize the elims used the gt28r housing. whats the benefit in that? just not having to replace the turbo inlet pipe?

Yes. It allows people to use their stock inlet hose or go with an aftermarket hose(034 or Neuspeed) with an adapter that bolts to the housing and has a 2.5" inlet. The best part about the Elim kits is that it looks 100% stock if you use the stock air box. Using the air box for a full body GT28rs kit is nearly impossible and no way it will look 100% stock.
