Default CJP Auto Trans: how to check fluid level and fill?

The Haynes manual is very vague/confusing in their description of how to check the trans fluid level (1996 Audi A4 2.8 auto) and fill.
Can someone send pointers or links how to do it?

Thanks.

Thats why you get the bentley

You cant check it, because there is no dipstick, and the trans is filled higher than the fill plug. If you were to remove the fill plug, you would loose a significant amount of ATF.

To flush you will need to use the SWAG method or a vagcom, Pull fill, then drain plug, pull pan, clean magnetic cubes, swap filter. Install drain plug, and pump oil in through fill plug till overflowing. Start car, pump till flooding. Run through all posistions for 30 sec each, fill till overflowing. Repeat for roughly 15 mins (check vagcom to see trans temp) install fill plug, turn off car.

Using the described SWAG method mean filling up through the fill plug until it drips. Why not do it the same way to check the level? Take fill plug out, insert tube and fill til overflowing? Start car, move shift lever. Check again and fill as needed. Repeat.

Why should that NOT work? Why is the fluid level NOW higher than the fill plug?

Default 01V or 01N Trans?

There seem to be 2 versions. How can I tell if I have a 01V or 01N?
What is the difference?

I guess you are right on checking the fluid level, neber thought about that.

I "think" 01v has tip and 01n is non tip

or quattro vs fwd
