Climate Control Has a Mind of its Own!
I have a 2001 Audi A4 that has a possessed climate control system. The fan speed will raise and lower all on its own no matter what I do to it. It acts like the automatic mode is on (even though it is turned off). I can briefly over ride it by adjusting the fan speed manually, but within a few seconds it will raise or lower it again to whatever it feels like. Any help or ideas would be great, thanks.

I don't know if you've been following this "thread" at all, but I just posted an answer to his problem, one of these solutions should help you.

Solutions:
1. Bad resistor: if you can't change the fan settings
2. Climate control needs calibration: if it comes on full power when you start the car, but you can then adjust it using the controls. This sometimes has to be done when a new unit is installed. You can fix this with a VAG-COM.
3. You have a bad climate control: and it needs to be replaced.
If you can, use a VAG-COM and look for error codes.
Taking it to the dealership is always an option.

It sounds like my climate control needs calibration, because I can still control the fan speed manually, but it also adjusts it automatically on its own (and yes the auto button is off and not stuck on). So as usually my problem can probably be solved with an expensive VAG-COM, thanks.
