oki,
I checked on Vag and Hvac for codes and they didn't report anything unusual..
I can feel the compressor kick-in when i take it off econ mode.
Also, the car doesn't blow any cold air when rolling at higher speeds. When the air outside is hot, the car is blowing that hot air at me at no matter what speed..

What I've noticed is that when the air outside is blistering hot, well.. the car is blowing blistering hot air at me inside and when the air is Cold outside, the car is blowing coldish air inside the car..

I guess i'm gonna have to order a R34A set off ebay with the pressure gauge..?

Any comments in the mean time or suggestions??

 

Update..!
Well, I haven't received the R43A yet, but i took the car for a spin today after not using it all week.

As usual with these cars, the problem has been fixed without anybody intervening.. LOLL
Anyway, the car is blowing cold air again (for how long I don't have a clue, but it worked fine all day )

I'll check the pressure once I receive the kit, but t'ill then..
Any clues as to what could/can be the problem? sensor??

I have the same issue with my AC except it has not righted itself!

The AC has been re-gassed, the fan behind the radiator does not come on, the compressor clicks in when I feed a permanent live to it, but does not appear to have a live feed to it under normal connections.

I've had it checked for fault codes but nothing shows up?

Any idea's? did yours go off again?

If your positive you dont have a code (a code for the A/C pressure switch), I would check to make sure the compressors signal wire isnt damaged, and if it isnt, maybe think about replacing your A/C control head.

 

There are definitely no fault codes, I had some from pulling fuses and testing connections but once they were all cleared none of them have come back.

When the fuse for the control unit was pulled both fans kicked in behind the radiator so assume they are both working.

I'm now looking for a control unit, my car has a double din console though. Does any one know if the face plate and buttons can be swapped from unit to unit?

I am having the same problem with my 01 2.8 V6. I thought it was the refrigerant running low. Took it to a shop and they recharged it and found out that the compressor isn't kicking on. They quoted me 1000$ to replace the compressor. I am thinking of ordering the compressor myself since the price they quoted me for the part is ridiculous. (I am ordering a compressor and component kit for 300$). It says that I might need a new condenser too. Is that correct?
