Default Clutch problem. Help?

I've got a B5A4 1.8t AWD. The cars been sitting about 2-3 weeks. Last time I got in it everything was working just fine. But when I got in it tonight the clutch would not engage. With the car off I can still get into gear. Whether the clutch is down or not. Which leads me to believe it's not a transmission problem. But when the car is on the shifter will not go into any gear. The clutch pedal will go down and the pressure feels the same that it always has. Before, I could hear the clutch engage. Though tonight it seems all I could hear was a spring? If I had to guess I would say it would be something to do with the clutch release mechanism. But I'm not completely sure I even know what I'm talking. Any ideas on what could be wrong or what happened? And what should I do? This is my first post on here so if you have any questions or anything. Please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you.

It sounds like either the master or slave cylinder has gone bad. Check the fluid level in the brake reservoir. I bet it has gone down. One of the two is leaking and is not allowing the clutch to disengage.

The master cylinder is inside the cabin. You can access it if you remove the plastic cover near the pedals. The slave is mounted to the driver's side of the transmission near the top.

Is there something I can do to figure out which one is the problem? Or should I just replace both?
