Hmm, until I read this, I was going to say that your timing is def off probably from the tensioner being bad. But it would probably really misfire alot worse. Are you anywhere near NJ. I'd love to look at this myself.

I drove around today and swapped the two coilpacks on 1 and 2 with 3 and 4 to see if the misfire code follows it. Can anybody make any sense of my car having boost now? Maybe unplugging the vvt and plugging it in had something to do with it, I dunno.

So did the misfires follow from 1 and 2 to 3 and 4? My attention span is shot. Give me a day to think about this

You must have a short or some kind of wiring problem... This doesnt make much sense. Hows the ground for the coilpacks?

I don't know if the codes have followed the packs. It misfired earlier but it wasn't long enough for even a pending code to be there. I checked the ground for the coil packs and it is on there good and tight. I even used a voltmeter and it looked to be just fine. I am going to order a new cam chain tensioner and install very soon. I'm just worried now if it is in fact a electrical problem that it is going to cause some more damage, ya know? God this is crazy...

So I had another batch of fresh codes when I started my car this morning. p0300 and misfire on cylinder 1,2,and 3. It was only on start up and then it went away after a few seconds. I haven't gotten any more pending codes or check engine lights and I am still building boost. My tapping issue is back though. Do you think I can get away with just replacing the tensioner seals? My tapping noise goes away when ever I give it a little throttle at idle.

Have you done a compression test?

No, I never thought I needed one. I haven't thrown any more codes other than a p0420. I am running a test pipe so I'm not too worried about that. Other than a little crappier gas mileage, I'm sure it'll be ok. Other than that, the no boost problem hasn't come back. I've misfired once but it went away quickly and hasn't happened since. I am, however, going to do the cam chain tensioner seals next week. Hopefully it will fix my ticking problem. Where's a good place to get um from?
