i was thinking about trying to figure out some way to glue the plastic back to what it should look like then just wrap the whole thing in a new fabric rather than tearing it apart and replacing the whole thing

I superglued it and it looks like it never broke.

I'd recommend before applying the glue. Try a couple of times where you will apply pressure, how the broken plastic will be positioned as if you had just glued it. I did it a couple of times, so when the moment came to superglue it. I already knew how to position it and where to apply pressure so everything would look pertty

I had that exact issue when I bought this car...
