Coolant temp sensor

Exclamation Coolant temp sensor

Where is it? I have a 1996 Audi A4 with the 2.8 v6 i need to replace this car someone help a newb out please.

Its in the rear coolant line. Look way back, top of the engine, close to the firewall and you will see the coolant line going across the engine. The coolant sensor will have green or blue base with a clip holding it down into the coolant line and an electrical connector on the top.

Sorry to thread jack, but is this in about the same location on the 1.8? Lately when I make a quick stop after driving for a little while,and start the car back up again, the temp gauge goes higher than normal and then gets back to normal after about a minute. That's not normal right?

The coolant temp sensor on the 1.8T is on the coolant flange on the back of the motor.

Ok, thanks. I found it today. It looks pretty easy to get to.
