Hi guys and gals!
I'm new to the boards, but i have a few questions and was hoping for some answers/suggestions. I just got an 2001 A4 2.8 w/ 30k miles and have the following questions.

1. Sometimes (maybe half the time) when i start the sucker up she gives me a thump through the brake. I don't notice it any other time except when I first turn her over.

2. I get a lot of throttle response through my stick (a little jerk when you first depress the gas in any gear), more than I have ever noticed in any other stick I’ve driven; normal?

3. Was ESP an extra option in this line? My manual has the info on the indicator lights and controls, but mine has a plug button where the override should be and no light ever displays. I thought this would be standard w/ the performance package (which i have)

The thump you get is the ABS kicking in. No problem there.

You don't want ESP anyway. Most people I know that have it turn it off as soon as they get in the car unless its raining. Your car is a quattro right?
