couple Q's about my new a4
hey guys!
first off i am so glad to be part of the audi family, only been in the VAG family for a year, audi for a month.
i am the proud owner of a 99.5 1.8TMQS
i understand that the maintenence comes before mods, example, timing belt before chip....
my car needs a few little things, needs a new brake light switch (i think) a new turn signal switch,
front brakes (soon), engine mounts, and a timing belt. my idea is that if i need to replace something, i might as well replace it with a better part
here is my plan, since i have to have it apart for the timing belt, i am going to have rs4 engine mounts put in, and the ultimate timing belt kit from ECStuning, the one with the lightweight pulley.
while its out im going to take the kinetic motorsports highflow manifold and k04-15 turbo out of my passat, and have my cat punched out, with CEL fix done to it.
i have already put in the k&n air filter out of my passat.(i know it didnt make a difference in power or fuel mileage but it makes the engine/turbo sound a little louder, and i like it, so be quiet!...lol )
since i also have to do the front brakes i figured i would just get the zimmerman sport slotted, x-drilled rotors from ecstuning, and a set of hawk HPS pads ( i have read lots of good reviews for them) but i saw that i could get the a8 rotor upgrade kit with the slotted, x-drilled rotors for only a little more.....*evil grin* my wife says its ok for me to spend a lil cash on my car since i love it so much already, and better brakes make the car safer....*another evil grin*
i also installed silverstars when one of my lowbeams went out.
my semi-near future plans include, remove the resonator and have a highflow muffler put in, for slightly louder sound and better flow/more power, on a budget.
i am also going to do the DIY FMIC, and relocate my DV/replace it with a good quality aftermarket one.
then get it chipped, not sure which one yet, but im interested in the GIAC pc-16 file, with the FPR to go with it.
overall i think it will give me a nice smooth quick car with plenty of power and still get my 30mpg average (when i stay out of it!)
but more important to me right now than the future mods are, is my CC and my cd changer....
i have checked out the stalk for the CC, and it checks fine, i have replaced the module and still nothing, im wondering if there is a fuse somewhere that i need to check (my car doesnt have the little logo guide in my fuse box...any pictures?)
any help you guys can give me would be GREATLY appreciated, since i drive over 50k miles a year, i use my CC a lot.
and i have a phatbox from my passat, but i cant find the cd changer plug in the trunk, i have pulled the carpet out and found a plug, but its too big, do i just need another adapter than the one that came with the phatbox? or can i not use the phatbox with the audi?

was thinking of a 007 or 006 but i dont see why a 004 wouldnt work as well, and yes i was planning on putting it very close to the TB

search vvme on this board. i run them and love them. they are the same thing as the more expensive sets only their in china so everything is so much cheaper. there are a couple people who have had problems but considering they ship a crapload of these sets every week, its understandable.

well with a dv like the 007 or 006 it will be more complicated since you gotta run a hose back to the TIP. with a bov like a 004 you just stick it anywhere on the ic piping you want and thats it.
