Damsel in Distress - ABS, brakes, clunking and grinding
I remeber the first time I had my ABS and Quattro (traction control) kick in.. the whole car kinda shuddered, the pedal jumped under my foot, I swear I heard a rear tire try to go backwards, and I stopped - on ice - in like 10 feet... I was like 'GO QUATTRO!"
I know the tires didnt actually reverse, but I was still impressed. All the other cars slid through the intersection... I stopped at the line

ABS is activated when the driver depresses the brake pedal suddenly or on an unstable surface.

Quattro is not traction control. Quattro is an Audi-brand 4 wheel drive system. It will not help you stop on ice.

If you are slipping, hit the brakes and lock up a wheel, the ABS kicks in to unlock it, yes, but the traction control also kicks in becuase now it senses you have no traction on at least 1 if not all 3 of the other wheels that are NOT locked.
but it (quattro) does help you slow down on snow/ice! (alot IMO) because it also works while decelerating....
