I don't get it...

How come the pixels on the dash go down like flies but the pixels on center console radio and heating controls stay fine?

anyone know wtf audi did different with the two?

 

I heard it's a heat issue.

 

Wouldn't be surprised. Mine seems to work better when its cold outside, and that little screen is really friggin thin. I imagine it wouldn't take much to get it hot enough to start doing damage.

 

you have to resoder it. they sell the resoderring kit on radio shack or any hardware store.

 

you have to replace it, resoldering a dead board wont solve the problem.

 

I resodered mine and now it works perfectly.

 

my understanding is that it isn't a problem with the physical display screen, the problem is with the ribbon cable that connects the screen. The "dead" pixels are capable of lighting up, they just don't because they aren't getting power from the ribbon cable. This is why resoldering works. if you buy a new display it comes with a new cable.
