i feel you on the enzo's i take em daily in my 1.8 and my buddy takes them iin his maazda3 (no speed part about it)..i bet the guy who started this thread will delete/ re make a new account lol. or he has already since he never replies

 

My life was ruined today.

 

wow didn't realize it was so funny.....I agreed to race him in part because as a class we r going to the track and I wasn't really concerned much about the race as much as my time.... I figured I was gonna lose not much argument there(i mean come on I lost to a ****** jeep)......The point of the thread was to see exactly what I could possibly do to the 2.8 to make it somewhat quicker.... I wish I could sell it because it would be gone right now, unfortunately I owe about 3000 on it still(in loans).... Next I am looking at an s4 but who knows.... I keep having so many problems with this car( the bracket on the first muffler snapped and is now hanging half an inch from the groud). I ordered a new one but won't get it til friday or so.... Until then what do u guys recommend I do

 

I don't know what all has been suggested and I don't feel like reading through the previous comments, but here are the options that I see:

1) Supercharger (or some kind of turbo set-up, but there isn't a tried and true method for that)
2) Exhaust
3) Intake
4) Chip
5) Pull every superfluous bit out of the car

If you get an intake, exhaust, and chip, you might get as much as 15-20 hp, but it's hard to say for sure since nobody with those mods has posted their Dyno results. There isn't anything you can do cheaply and quickly to make your car faster. Short of a supercharger, it's never going to be very fast.

 

get a metal coat hanger and hang that sucker up.

 

Well, a nitrous system isn't too expensive for the power gained - that's a possibility. I believe I read awhile back that the 2.8 30v can take a 75 shot fine (don't recall whether an upgraded fuel pump was needed, but the injectors were big enough). With that setup, making a hair under 270hp, he could probably take some of the Mustangs. Not sure about newer ones, but the older fox-body 5 liter cars would probably lose (run on the highway and "probably" becomes "almost certainly").
