Default Disturbing amount of oil spray. Thoughts?

So today I changed the oil on my 2.5, and noticed a large amount of oil spray throughout parts of the engine compartment, and interestingly enough, underneath the skid plates. Looking at the source will be tough, as it coated just about everything. Most of it was gooey, and a little bit of it was the consistency of grease. It appears to originate above the engine block(according the mechanic on duty), but my thoughts is my turbo is spraying oil, or a gasket somewhere is blown. taking it back to the garage on post to run diagnostic tomorrow. In the engine compartment it is only noticeable in a few places, more noticeable when car was lifted. Will upload some pictures tomorrow when I have it on the lift. Oil was black. Problem could have been there from before I bought the car, so have no idea if this is a recent problem, or if it is on-going.

Thanks for reading, any thoughts would be appreciated!

Steam clean and degrease everything you can, top to bottom. Then drive a few days and rein spect it. A clean engine will allow you to see the source of new leakage.

Yea. I will try that. It's everywhere on the undercarriage though. still need a diagnostic. fire it up, put it on the lift and run for boost leaks(pretty sure its from the turbo, all the oil is centralized in the middle of the car). It should show where i am losing pressure. It has to be a seal for that much oil to have accumulated everywhere, but then again, I never had to deal with a leak like that before. If i have to i'll have it running, and see if i can find oil spray or leaking while it's running. But with the engine compartment being so compact, it will be hard to actually look through it for leaks.

I had this exactly problem and would bet 99.9% that it is the oil cooler (part that the oil filter screws on) gasket that mates it to the block, as well as the oring between the cooler and filter housing. I had this issue, may still have some pics of fixing it.

Be careful when steam cleaning not to fill your alternator with moisture. Not a good thing.
