DIY Opinion
if ur going to do ur brakes, check ur rotors too.. when it came time to replace my stock rotors, instead of having them resurfaced or buying another set of OEM rotors, i saved up for sum dimpled/slotted rotors (www.brakeperformance.com).. also get sum good ceramic brake pads.. they last longer & dont dirty ur wheels as fast as others..
i did my own brakes & rotors, just borrowed the caliper tool from autozone... its pretty easy if u got ur own floor jack & stands.. after u install them, remember to properly wear in the new brake pads (no extreme/hard braking for 500 miles, doing this will ensure longer brake pad & rotor life, so basically take it easy when slowing down).. slotted rotors feel better than drilled in my opinon.....

Hey all,
I'm in the process of replacing the brakes (front and back). The fronts weren't a problem but what size allen do I need for the rears? Someone mentioned that they replaced them with something else to make it easier to work on later, what size/ thread/ type?
Thanks!

The rear need 7 mm Allen. I grind 8 mm down to 7 long time ago for different car as none of my 4 Allen sets has 7 mm.
Now am I the only one who's Audi has 18mm hex bolts on front brake brackets?
I own about 4 sets of big metric wrenches (plus couple smaller ones) and none of them has 18mm of any kind.
Good thing my industrial Crescent wrench worked, but cost me lot of extra time and bleeding knuckles.
