Does everyones A4 do this? :/
Hi, i was wondering if this is something that all A4's do or what is it from. when you start the car and let it run for about a min or so then you hear and feel like it hickup's and like thats when the turbo comes on or something like that but you can deff tell something turns on. does your car do this, or what do you think this is from?
Thanks Guys

I think what you're hearing is when the secondary air pump turns off - the revs drop at that point as if the AC compressor was turned on and loaded the engine. If that's what you mean, then yeah, all but the 12v V6 cars do that. You only have to worry about it when the car sounds like a vacuum cleaner at startup - that's how you know the $300 SAP is going south on you.
yeah i know what you mean.. it warms up then as its like at idling at 800 rps or so after 20 secoonds thats when it does it , its not during the time when the idle drops..
no nothing really vacuum cleaner its just like quick drrr and then normall you know
hey and also like when the idle drops low when its warmed up the car has vibration to it not soo much but enough that the arm rest thing vibrates.. is this from like cylinder misfire or something?

I was under the impression that the worst way to warm a vehicle up is to let it sit for a while. Apparently that does more damage on the engine than anything. The manual even says to not start the car until you're immediately ready to drive, but to keep RPM's low as well.

as for letting it warm up, im from minnesota and normally i go out and start the car then go in and take a shower. never had a problem. my reasonign for letting it warm up this long is because of something known as cold seizure (yeah i know its really only for two stroke engines but the principle holds the same) letting the metal inside the engine bay warm up slowly allows the metal to expand at a constant rate. lets say you dont let it warm up and decide to give it hell, the piston will expand more rapidly because it is aluminum and the surronding cylinder is stell which is more dense and more difficult to heat up. what this means is the piston expands and since the cylinder wall isnt expanding as fast, the piston rubs up against the cylinder causing seizure.
now during the summer i dont let it warm up i just keep it under 3000K till i see some sort of water temp and dont give it hell till i see some sort of oil temp.
