ON this subject.. Is it true that drilled/slotted rotors cause alot more dust and wear down your break pads quicker?

*no intentions of hijacking just a quick question
you will probably get more dust, but slotted and cross drilled will wear out quicker and crack....... if you get your rotors too hot

makes sense but i dont know for sure. there's a big debate about which is best. drilled/slotted/dimpled are supposed to dissapate heat but they also make less contact area and weaken the rotor. unless your generating a crapton of heat (something like autocross) blanks are definitely better.

also here's something to consider. f1 cars use blanks w/ ceramic pads

Well as far as the drilled and slotted rotors they are better for heat dissipation. Like stated earlier in this thread they would probably be for more track use than anything else. I agree with everyone else in your case, go with the A8/TT setup. Might want to grab some steel braided lines to get a better pedal feel if you plan on auto crossing or the occasional track use…
As for me I would go with the ECS Zimmerman rotors, red top pads, steel lines, and some fresh brake fluid… Then again my Brembo setup on my 98 is VERY NICE, TOO MUCH.

Agreed with everyone else - stock rear rotors are more than enough. Do the A8/TT kit for the front - you won't regret it. They work incredibly well, and they look great too This is them, filling up my 17" wheels:

I know what the other guys are saying about the drilled/slotted rotors, and I don't track my car, but I got them for a different reason. In the rain, my brakes sucked badly - it was like I had air in the lines. I suspected the pads were floating off the rotors and hurting my braking performance. I got the drilled/slotted rotors in the hopes that the fading brake feel in the rain would disappear. It has. And these things stop like a brick wall. It's not on par with StopTech or Wilwood, but then, this whole kit with Hawk pads and shipping cost about as much as a StopTech rotor. I'm 100% happy.

so if you do the A8 upgrade: there are slotted/drilled rotors available for upgrade for that setup?

will the A8 upgrade fit my stock wheels on my 01 a4 a.8Tmq sport package?
