Default Driver's side mirror - Leaked Fluid

First post guys:

Ok so I have a 2000 Audi B5, purchased late 2000, so I do not believe it is a 1999.5. Anyway, to my knowledge it has the cold weather package - heated door lock, washers, and mirrors.

Over the last 4 years or so, the auto-dimming fluid in the driver's side mirror has been leaking out. This was not a huge deal at first, but now condensation is getting in there and fogging up the mirror making it difficult to see. The summer heat seems to be speeding up the process as well.

Anyone know if just the glass can be replaced? I found replacement glass on ebay that looks as though you glue it over the previous glass, other than that nothing... Anyone parting out a car? I would be happy with blue tinted glass, these don't need to auto-dim....

Bump. I'm having the same problem with my drivers side mirror and looking to replace the glass. I'm just wondering if I can replace just the glass and be on my way

You need the glass and its mounting plate. Just putting new glass on won't fix it as the burn is actually on the backer. GL - I've been looking for 5 months and no one wants to sell just the glass. They want to sell the whole mirror assembly which i don't want. Oh and I was quoted $377 for the blue anti-dazzle glass from the dealer last week...without the backplate.

IIRC, blauparts.com sells the autodimming mirror glass, but they've been on back order for as long as I can remember. You might try shokan.com, see if you can get lucky buying a whole mirror for cheap, then just swap the glass?

Well ECS Tuning has all of the options (I think). http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B5_A4-...erior/Mirrors/

They have one that has the anti-dazzle and it's $128 HERE

Anyone know how to remove the mirror from the housing to replace it? I've read that it just prys out, but I'm a little nervous to just pry the thing out of the housing and hope it will pop-out.
