Driver's Side Transmisson Mount
I started replacing all my trans and motor mounts today but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the driver's side trans out. It looks like there's a big bracket bolted to the trans itself. Do I have to remove all those allen bolts?
Thanks
Thanks
Well I ended up taking the bracket off but now I can't get the bracket to line back up. When i jack up on the trans itself on the fluid pan it moves the whole car up not just the trans. I spent like 2hrs trying to get it lined up but it just won't do it. Any suggestions????
are you trying to install the bracket and mount together as one piece? i tried that and it wouldn't line up right. i had to install the bracket first, then do the mount afterwards. and you shouldn't be jacking your trans up. it should just have a jack under it supporting it, maybe raised a slight hair.
Well I had tried to put it on with the bracket all together but that didn't work. Finally I just moved the jack and it went in. Not easy but did go in. The manual and tip mounts must be completely different because when you take the stock mount out there is about 1" of clearance to put a 2 1/2" mount. I took pictures and I'll post them up later.
I tried to swap mine out today...but I didn't have a prybar and I couldn't for the life of me get the heatshield bent far enough out of the way to pull out the bolt from the top. Except for that, it seemed pretty straight forward...I'm not sure why you had such a hard time, but hopefully everything worked out.
The passenger side wasn't too bad. It was the driver's that drove me nuts. I think because I have just an oil pan instead of solid metal to jack up on thats what made it harder. But I ended up just pushing up on the cast iron piece coming out of the trans going to the cv boot.

Doesn't matter, its in now.
