Default Ecu is sketchy

I just bought an ecu out of a 98 a4 1.8t manual.
it was all the exact same even color as mine.

I was driving it and it perfectly fine, but as soon as i slam the pedal down it kinda studders and the turbo spools really loud and then goes.

The CEL is on from the previous car he pulled it out of.
Shucks and auto zone were already closed so i couldn't clear it.

Do you think the CEL is causing this?

It feels like the turbo isn't kicking in and then when it wants to its sputters and feels like when your car misfires.

I only need the ecu for a couple days or could it potentially damage my car?

Most places will not clear codes anymore. I would say find someone with a vag to help ya out. Where are you from?

Ok so i went to what used to be shucks but is now o'reillys and trade my card and id for there diagnostics machine.
There was 7 cels from the previous car.
I cleared them and noticed my car was running quite a bit better.
But then after trying to floor it did the same thing and sputtered and then took off but the turbo was way to loud...

After you plugged in the ecu for the first time, it should be cleared of faults, and you should turn the ignition to ON but not start and let the ecu determine throtle settings for at least a minute. Not sure why your turbo would be louder... Did you possibly obtain a chipped ecu?

Now i swapped the ecu's back.
The turbo still seems the be spooling loudly.
But it seems to be running fine.
It may have a slight lack of power but idk.

Spooling loudly at idle or only when boosting while under load?
