Default ECU Uprgade

So I've been looking at ECU chips online and found a company that sells one for $69 and seems to be pretty legit company. Found chips on eBay for about the same pice too. But once you go to a name brand like APR the price jumps to over $300.
What's your opinion on it?

Great to know you're searching around the web. Search in the forum too...

Try out the $69 chip.

Those $69 "chips" are often just a resistor to trick the car into thinking it's in cold-start mode. Get a real chip.

Speed tuning chips go for $130 on a group buy and i paid $145 for express shipping because its my dd. thats a real chip at a great price vs a resistor at a rediculous price. I believe the 10th payment for the group buy is on its way now but the more the merrier. Pm auh if your interested and hurry before its to late. Otherwise its $200 for the chip i believe which is still better price than giac or apr by $100-$150.

I've heard that should uprgrade my turbo intake and exhaust before I do the ecu because it puts extra pressure on everything...

I'm no expert, but after asking around and digging for information I found that it is good to do that stuff, but not 100 % necessary right away. For a stage 1 or stage 2 chip it would definitely help and be something you might want to do but you could go without.

A lot of people suggest that with any chip you get a new diverter valve, i believe the stock one is plastic and you want something aluminum.

Other people say, re gap your plugs in tighter with a chip as well.

You'll also want to make sure you have a good timing belt...they make a whole kit to change that.
