Default Eibach Lowering springs

Hey guys, quick question here. I saw advertised a set of 4 Eibach lowering springs, bought for an '04 A4. Now I have no experience with this sort of thing. First off, will they fit a 00 B5 and secondly will they lower it much?

I know the best set up is Coil-overs, but just to drop the Whip a little would these do a good job? Ideally 18" Shoes come next. Any experience / Input would be very welcome.

I don't think B6 springs work on a B5, though I don't know if they will physically not fit or if the spring rates will just not be optimal or what. Also, unless you're going for style only, stick to 17" wheels max. Though there was a recent thread where a lot of us were saying that 18"s don't look good, but that's your call.

Either size looks good. 17s look stock, the way stock should be. 18s look perfect - big enough to be apparent that it's not stock and not too big.

Ya I'd say that most 17s look good, some 18s look good, but when they look good they are very good. I will prob end up with 17's as a compromise for price, performance and comfort.

Would really like to get it slightly lower first though, I'll just have to scour the 2nd hand adds for another few months

17"s will have better performance. Top Gear Australia did an episode where they reviewed a Walkinshaw Performance version of the Holden Commodore and they initially got it with the big wheels but it killed the performance. Then they got it with the normal wheels and it was much faster around their track due to better traction.

More rubber and less metal makes the contact patch effectively softer which improves traction.

Lol i think i see the rim argument coming back!

18"s ftw!

and get coils if you want to change the height more than once. Springs if you want to drop and stay there.
