Need a little help guys...

Unfortunately I hooked up the battery with my darn ignition on -eeek! The ECU is fine, but something else isn't. My vag com cannot communicate with the car so it's difficult to tell what is wrong. Here is what happens when I turn the key:

Check engine light is on but not steady. The tach bounces. oil, gas, and coolant lights flash but aren't consistent. There is a clicking noise from what looks like a solenoid next to the intake on the top side of the engine.

Battery power is fine and I swapped two different ECUs to be certain this isn't the problem.

A4 electronics is not my forte!! where do I go from here?

 

I would definitely check the ICM, and all relays pertaining to it, if any. Does your car run if you crank it? What motor?

 

I will look into the ICM and relays. They should all be behind the ignition cylinder right?

It's a 2.8L. When I try to crank it nothing happens... Everything goes dead.
