Default Engine Sump/Pan Replacement

Hallo,

I wanted to find out if it possible to use an engine sump/pan from a 1996 Audi A4 in a 2000 Audi A4? Can it work without complications?

Will appreciate your comments and advice.

Welcome to AudiForums!

First off, we need to know which engine you are referring to.

If you are referring to the 1.8T : the 2000 1.8T (engine code ATW) has an oil level/temperature sensor at the bottom of the oil pan, and the 1996 1.8T (engine code AEB) does not have this. Therefore it will not be compatible.

From a quick search it sounds like the APU is a European 1.8T. In the U.S. we received engine code AEB instead of APU, but my guess is they are similar with respect to the oil pan.
