Default engine temp

after reading a nother members thread on a coolant leak issue I remembered that my engine temp gauge and oil temp both read low or around 90 degrees C all the time. It takes a hard drive up a mountain (literally) for either to over 90 and they usually read 70 tops on the highway. Is this the normal operating range for the 12v engine?

Also I really like my A4 but want more power I've done some looking around on an engine upgrades or change and am really very into the 4.2 + six speed swap I read on another forum was wondering if anyone on here has any experience with this

looking at cost and down time compared to just finding an s4 turbo V6 and leaving the trans I've got

its either your coolant temp sensor or thermostat. as fars as the motor swap goes, just buy a car with a new engine. it is a very involved swap and doesnt get done often. im only aware of a handful of 4.2's in b5's.

The 4.2 swap is a good swap if you have time. Its good because it was never from the factory and i think there are only 2-3 ones that were done right. Plus you can twin turbo it
