ok guys here goes another question.....within a few days i will have enough to purchase a chip. decided to spend it at http://www.goapr.com/Audi/products/ecu_upgrade_a418t.html. now can anyone tell me in great detail how to install the motherf**ker in. i heard not very difficult in japanese cars but then again we are talking about german cars. any help from slim or brrman will be appreciated...you guys are the best!!.

okey

The chip needs to be soldered into your ECU, and the normal procedure is for you to overnight your ECU to them - they do the mod and then overnight the ECU back to you. 3 days downtime in the car.

Then all you have to do is plug the ECU back into the car, run a throttle body adaptation (very simple) and you are good to go. (might want to unplug the battery before you unplug/plug the ECU - and make sure you have your radio code before unplugging battery!)<edited><editID>brrman</editID><editDate>38055.4304398148</editDate></edited>

Though I have no experience with the other chips, I can vouch for APR. Once the revs come up, the engine has a totally different character all the way to redline. Keep in mind that all these chip makers are increasing the allowable boost, making the turbo to work harder. All the more reason to let the turbo spool down at idle before shutting it off...my 2 cents.</P>

As for the installation, the hardest part is reaching the fasteners towards the back of the ECM "cover box". The plastic cowl makes it difficult to get back there. Just take your time.</P>
