Default First time Audi buyer

My friend is buying his first A4. He was wondering if you guys think this is a good deal or not?

Is the oil cooler an easy fix as well as clearing the codes?
Any help you can give would be much appreciated. Thanks!

absolutely not. Not only does the story sound shady, $2k for what is basically a pile of parts is outrageous. If you aren't doing the work yourself, the repairs he listed in that ad would run damn near 2 grand, even if the parts are all included like he says (which i doubt they are).

Moreover, if the radio has been removed, you're either going to need to replace it with an aftermarket head unit or get the radio code from the owner's manual, provided he has it.

All in all, I'd just let this one go and wait for another one.

Thanks for the input guys. We went to check it out yesterday. The guy will be putting a lot of things back together himself. All we would have to do is wire the headlights, put the secondary air pump back on, replace the washer fluid container, fix the body work, finish the exhaust (he is putting the front half back on and has 1 and a half of extra exhausts for parts to go with it. We have a small shop here that does exhaust work for next to nothing), and add his own aftermarket head unit. Once we get everything back together, the guy has the full VAG-COM to clear all of the codes and offered to do it for free when we are ready. It does start as well.
So after all of that, is it still a definite no go?

if it was that easy, the guy would have fixed it himself and sold it for a higher price. any time a car has multiple major issues it is a red flag. from the picture it looks like a car that was beat on. limo tint, blacked out taillights and ghetto wheels... what does that tell you? so it was in an accident, driven some more and then the cat exploded which plugged the exhaust? doesn't make much sense. just remember, people lie and hide problems when selling used cars. it could need all new control arms and wheel bearings. tires could have flat spots from sitting too long. have you run a compression test on the motor? these cars don't last too long when routine maintenance issues aren't tended to.

Run away! It's easy enough to find a car that hasn't had the crap beat out of it. You may think you are getting a good deal now, but chances are that the money you saved on buying this car will end up having to go towards it anyway to fix all the little hidden surprises. I dunno, I could be wrong about it, but Audi's aren't some old Honda that you can find parts everywhere for and for cheap IMO. I do wish you the best of luck though, and if you do decide to get it, welcome to the Audi family.

Agreed with all of the above. I wouldn't buy that with someone else's money, let alone my own. And you're putting a lot of faith in the seller's ability to do the work. Slapping these cars together is a bad idea. Find another car - period.
