Default First timer doing some maintenance

Hi, first timer here, great info great sight!!

I just bought a 1998 A4 1.8T with 58k miles for $6500. The car is in MINT condition. I think the previous owner had OCD(obsessive compulsive disorder, very nice guy). The car doesn’t have a spec of dirt in it.

Anyways, I’m going to change the oil. I plan on using M1 10w-40 or 0w-40, depending on what they sell at Walmart. I’m in Austin, Tx, very mild winters and HOT summers. Are these weights ok?

Any suggestions for oil filters?

I’m not sure if the previous owner has changed the manual transmission oil. Should I change it out?

The previous owner changed out the fuel pump and timing belt in 2005 at the 42k mile mark. Any suggestions when I should change it out again? I was thinking at 100k miles.

Any other suggestions regarding maintenance?

Any good Audi mechanics in Austin, Tx?

Here’s some pics of the car, let me know what ya’ll think.

wow thats a really.. i mean really good deal you got on that a4.. awesome mileage for a 98
yeah you should probably change the timing belt at around 100k
and 10w-40 should be good enough

Thanks, I think I got a great deal too, especially considering the car is practically in new condition. I told my wife we got a new car, just so happens it was built in 98. I hope it continues to rungreat. This is my first Audi, so I have no idea what to expect.

Any suggestions on spark plugs?

Is there a thread that explains how to change the fuel filter? What kind of fuel filter?

tranny fluid should not need to be changed.

i run 0w40 but either should work, fully synthetic of course.

oil filters, the biggest ones you can find in your area.
