Default The FMIC Is In

Hey people,

OK so the FMIC is in, however I need some help. 1st, the car to me feels noticeably slower (NOTICEABLY). 2nd, it lags more, yes this is expected with a bigger cooler on a small turbo. 3rd, psi drop of 2-3, this is expected no big deal. 4th (more important) I'm thinking that the car is running lean now as its getting a lot more air without the fueling been modified. I will take the car back to the mechanic next week and check the spark plugs and see if we can tell if its running a bit lean.

On the + The turbo is ALOT louder and produces a loud spool

Do you recommend a re tune to suit the amount of air now coming in? AFPR? What can I do to get back the power which I feel that has been lost.

All help is much appreciated.

It might just be upset about the headlights.

All connections nice and tight?

I'd definitely do a boost leak test. You can never be too sure!

Yep all connections seem fine.
Boost is fine, on average a 2psi drop with inter cooler which is expected. Hits 15-16, spikes to 18. With stock, hits 17-18 with a spike to 20. Boost is fine.
Only thing I can think of is that it needs more fuel now to compensate for the increase in air

There is no increase in air. You may be getting an increase in oxygen density from the more efficient core but that's it.

^^Exactly what I was gonna say.

How big are the pipes you used? Pipes that are too big could hurt your power

found the issue, the whine/whistle the turbo was producing was to good to be true, looks the the turbo is at its end, friend spotted blue smoke from exhaust and all is pointing to turbo after some research, explains the massive performance drop aswell.

ok so I went to a yard to look for a replacement turbo, 450 for a used one, 750 for a new one, no i wasn't ready to pay for it just yet. So I go to the mechanic who is installed my FMIC, I tell him of my situation with the car feeling alot weaker after the install. He agrees. We test the car for a boost leak, no problems here. So he suggests it could be the DV/BOV he blocks of one side of the hybrid dv/bov, the side which leads the air back in and magically the car is now running fine if not slightly better. He said that the was a lot of pressure building here which caused the problem, not only that, at this time were the car was feeling weak the car was losing a lot of engine oil, it will lose half in 4 days.

With this fix the car is running good again, turbo is fine, engine oil is fine and the too good to be true whistle/wine is still here I will post a video of it hopefully soon. Surprised that a dv/bov can cause all of this

So what was the blue smoke from? $450 for a used K03 is robbery.
