Question Fog Lights

Hey guys, so i was wondering if anyone is running aftermarket fogs. The oem ones are expensive and from what I hear aren't that great. I don't want mine for looks as much as I want them for performance. So lmk what you guys are running pics welcome.

I want to buy some but idk what direction to go.

P.S. I mean the lower grill fogs.

The only fogs I have seen aftermarket specifically for the A4 are these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AUDI-...#ht_4109wt_922
They won't fit directly, they require some minor trimming with a knife/Dremel to properly fit into the slots in the bumper. As far as light output, they aren't too bad.

BUT these have no cutoff, so whatever light comes out of them will light up everything, including shining on incoming traffic. So HID is not an option cuz you wouldn't want to be on the other end of them.

Personally, I use mine JUST for looks. I got some LED bulbs that don't have that great of output, but are still visible during the day. They look good IMO after I shaved the top/bottom to make them sit in my bumper properly.

To be honest I think the OEM fogs work very nicely as fog lights. You sound like you want driving beams rather than fog beams. Fogs are supposed to light up widely and not all that far and in that use the factory lamps work well (even better if you fit HIDs as several of us have done).

Yea I want something for bad weather like winter, i have 8000k HID headlights in projectors so lighting wont be an issue til winter. I want yellow fogs i might try to custom fit some in mesh. Have you guys ever seen this?

I haven't seen it but it's certainly possible. I'd probably figure out where you want them and cut/trim your existing grille panels around them. Hiwords bought brand new oem fogs for $79 online though - you can get them and fit 3000k HIDs in them easily for a brilliant amber beam. PM member tware4021 for pics - he has 6000k low beams and 3000k fogs and it looks and works great. Aftermarket fogs may not handle HIDs - often they're more cheaply built and can't take the heat. Finally, with winter you might want to do the independent fog mod so you can run only the amber fogs in heavy snow. That way you'll be able to undercut the snow with light without your headlights blinding you with snow glare and reflection.
