Default Fogs Don't Work...

...and haven't since I bought the car 6 weeks ago. The small green light on the switch illuminates, but neither of the bulbs come on. I doubt it would be both bulbs at this low mileage (32k) but could be, anything else? Fuse was ok, maybe a relay or something?

Check the bulbs and if they are ok, start looking for bad wiring.

First place I would start is at the bulbs. It's not hard to get them out.

Pull out the little grill next to the fog lamp and then the black cover off of the lamp itself. There are 3 philips head screws that hold the lamp in. The whole thing comes out of the bumper and the back unscrews to reveal the bulb.

The bulbs are standard H7. You could test them with a multimeter or swap for you high beam bulbs. While you're in there, check to see if there is voltage at the terminals when the switch is on. There is a relay that lives behind the glove box but is a pain to get to. If the green light on the switch illuminates, then I think that the fog relay is okay.

Thanks for the help guys, will get on this in a few days. Something I've noticed from looking at other audis on the road: in Canada DRL (daytime running lights) are mandatory...audis seem to not run their projectors and have their fog lights and signal lights on instead...so I guess it would be plausible that the fogs would be burned out if they're always running during the day. Is this consistent with your knowledge?

I'd like to use my fogs as DRLs, but am given to understand that it is much more involved than adding a fuse or relay. I'm not sure about Canadian models.

Hey guys, got to this today, turns out it was just the bulbs so easy fix. And now that they work, I found out that the fogs do in fact act as the DRL on Canadian models.

Next step is my HID's...they're pretty dull/yellowy, I assume due to age, so I would like to change them out. Owner's manual says to let an audi tech do it but is that really necessary?

Nope - talk to Emil at KrautoParts.com - Your One Stop Shop For Premium LED & HID Kits - HOME and tell him what you need. He's legit and will hook you up no worries.
